Tonight I will be celebrating success with the other local 12-week CarbLover participants at a house party in downtown Birmingham.  As a group, we lost over 218 pounds!  My journey did not stop at 12 weeks however… it will be something that I do for the rest of my life.  My official weight-loss goals will be reached in about a month, and after that I will continue on with my new healthy lifestyle.   It is strange to say, but I will actually miss the weight-loss process and the joys of accomplishment.  The good news is that I can always apply that energy & will to other areas of my life, like sports & career goals.

Which makes me wonder if I could ever be competitive at sports like triathlon & running.  Am I past my prime?  I realize that there are “age-groupers”, but these tend to be people who’ve been at the top of their game for years.  Could I ever be competitive with someone who has been doing this their whole adult life?  I am inclined to say… yes.
