It’s my first maintenance Weigh-In Wednesday!  Wooohoo!  😀  I did pretty well considering I went on a 5 day cruise last week.  Photos below.

A big THANK YOU is in order for Amelia who pointed me in the direction of NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month).  This couldn’t have been more perfectly timed.  I have already filled out my profile:  TheJenWestQuest on NaNoWriMo.

NaNoWriMo is a month-long competition (with yourself) to write 50,000 words from scratch.  You can have an outline or plot notes prior to November 1st.  The idea is that you will be forced to write stream-of-thought without having the time to edit.  As most writers know, this is how you get sh*t done.  You still have 100% ownership of your creative material, so once November is over you can then go back and rework & edit what you’ve written.  Here is a page from their website that convinced me: If I’m just writing 50,000 words of crap, why bother?

If anyone else decides to do it, let me know and we can become Writing Buddies.  🙂

I am so excited I could do 20 cartwheels!!!!!!  😀 😀 😀  Ahhhhhhhh!!

To prep for this I am still going to hold true to my deadlines I set yesterday, except I am going to move the deadline to October 31st.  Instead of starting the book (since that is against the rules before Nov. 1), I will develop the outline & plot skeleton.  Also, I will move the priority of reading other books up on the list.  My hope is to read 4 books of similar content before November 1st.  Here are the ones I’ve selected so far:

1.  Bridget Jones’s Diary
2.  Julie & Julia  (Thanks for recommending Charles!)
3.  The Happiness Project  (Thanks for recommending Jamie!)
4.  TBD… any more suggestions?  If not, I have a few in mind.
