Vero and I have added a new element to our weekly running schedule: speed intervals.  It only takes 30-40 minutes to do an intense set of them.   All you need is a long flat road or access to a treadmill.  Intervals come in all distances & speeds, but the type we are doing are short & fast.  We did a set of 8 this morning, and next week we are going to try to up it to 12.  We started off by doing a moderate paced jog to our destination less than a mile away as a warm up.  After we finished our sets, we did the same jog back to cool down.  It is really easy to injure yourself doing fast intervals, so it is always best to start off with a realistic amount for your fitness level then build from there.  It’s also a great way to blast fat, but you don’t want to do them more than a few times a week so you don’t hurt yourself.  The main purpose of intervals is to make you faster.  Read more about interval training here.

Speaking of running, my marathon training is scheduled to start this weekend.  At some point tomorrow I need to look over my program to see how it compares with what I’m already doing.  I have a feeling that I’m ahead of the game, and all I’ll need to do for the time being is start incorporating a longer run.  Once I get the chance to look at that, I will fill you guys in on the plan.

I realized last night that November 1st is just around the corner!  In order to keep up with my creative goals, I still need to have a one-on-one with 4 people in writing industry in the next week & a half.  So today I am going to try to schedule key people to talk to for each day next week.  I already have 2 or 3 of them picked out, so hopefully they will be able to meet in that time frame.

I am so excited to jump head first into NaNoWriMo… I feel like it is the perfect opportunity for me to kick-start my book.  As it gets closer, I need to start figuring out blocks of time each day that I can devote to writing.  That will be something fun for me to figure out over the weekend when I have more time to think about it.  November is going to ROCK.

Tonight kicks off the beginning of a fun weekend!  Starting tomorrow morning, I will have lots of photos to share.  🙂  See you then!
