This weekend was such a wonderful time, it was so good to get away for a few days and mentally check-out.  There is something magical about Louisville… but maybe I feel that way because I don’t live there.  I love the little pocket villages full of eateries and boutiques.  It seems like a lot of creative types and athletic people live there.  At any given time you can spot a hipster or a runner… or maybe even a hipster runner.  🙂

Which brings me to this – why is hipster a negative term… especially to hipsters?  I use the word to describe a free spirit, usually in their 20’s or 30’s (sometimes even 40’s) who expresses themselves through their outer appearance.  They also seem to possess a high intellect, someone you would want to have a conversation with.  Other people view hipsters as pretentious know-it-alls, but that hasn’t been my experience.  I think there is nothing wrong in wanting to be different as long as you follow one rule – don’t judge others.  I am obviously not a hipster because I regretfully don’t look the part.  This is going to sound really strange coming from a person who runs long distances and enjoys endurance sports, but I have never been able to find the energy or interest for that kind of investment in my daily appearance.  Honestly, I would rather just throw on a pair of jeans with no make-up and call it a day.  I am much more a hippie than hipster.  So for that, I say bravo to the snazzy dressing hipsters!!  🙂

Good news:  my tonsillitis appears to be gone!  It did cause me to feel mildly sick over the weekend, but fortunately I never got a fever at any point.  This morning I am feeling a little tired but that isn’t unusual for a Monday morning.  I am going back to see Dr. Fagan this afternoon, sports medicine extraordinaire, to get a check-up on my knee.  I have a feeling that I will get a good report back, or at least I’m hoping so.  However, even though it’s two weeks later, I don’t feel like I’m ready to run on it quite yet.  I still feel a little pain from time to time, even though it is getting better quickly.  We will see what she says!  I will report on Twitter as soon as I know something definitive.
