Wow, happy August 1st!  I really can’t believe that we are already two months into the second half of the year.  Next thing you know, it will be time for some of my favorite end-of-summer events like the Sidewalk Film Festival and Artwalk.  2011 is going by like the blink of an eye!

When you were a child, time went by at a snail’s pace… and not necessarily in a bad way.  Things that you looked forward to took forrrrever to get here, and little joys were never taken for granted.  Is it because we had less say so in our lives, and/or because we had less things to do?  I’m not sure, but I’ve always been interested in the perception of time and how we can manipulate it to our advantage. No one wants life to slip by too quickly.  I guess the answer is learning how to live in the moment.

If I were truly aware this very second, I’d be conscious of all the small things happening around me.  The sound of the fan blowing, the morning birds chirping outside my window and the snuggly bed that I’m still in.  (Also, the sound of a dump truck in the distance. Ha!)  But what does that mean if I am aware of these things?  It means that I’m alive.  It means that I’m lucky.

My apologies in advance, the card photos below didn’t upload in the right order and I don’t have time to fix them.  But you will get the idea!  😀

A gift from my new landlords! :D My favorite.
